Abstract Blue White Howlite Three Strand Necklace

Materials

1 large clasp
3 14x1mm cast metal plain rings
10 crimp beads
10 crimp bead covers

Technique

1 Cut one 23cm length of tiger tail. Thread the tail of the tiger tail through one crimp bead, one wire guardian back through the crimp bead. Crimp the crimp bead with your crimping pliers. Take your flat-nose pliers and gently place the crimp cover on top of the crimp to hide. Work your flat-nose pliers around the crimp cover to close.

Thread on the tiger tail the following beads: [Two 8mm round howlite beads, one seed bead] x 2, [one howlite bead, one bead hanger, one howlite bead, one seed bead, three howlite beads, one seed bead ] x 2, one howlite bead, one bead hanger, one howlite bead and [one seed bead, two howlite beads] x 2.

Note brackets [ ] are also used to enclose a sequence of beads that are to be repeated a specified number of times.

Finish by taking the end of the tiger tail and thread it through one crimp bead, one wire guardian. Check to make sure the beads will be finished flushed to the crimp bead and then crimp the crimp bead with your crimping pliers. Take your flat-nose pliers and gently place the crimp cover on top of the crimp to hide. Work your flat-nose pliers around the crimp cover to close.

2 Cut one 28cm length of tiger tail. At the tail add a crimp bead, wire guardian & crimp cover using the method out lined in step 1.

Thread on the tiger tail the following beads: One 8mm round howlite bead, [one howlite bead, one bead hanger, one howlite bead, one seed bead, three howlite beads, one seed bead] x 4, one howlite bead, one bead hanger and two howlite beads.

Finish the tiger tail with a crimp bead, wire guardian & crimp cover.

3 Cut one 33cm length of tiger tail. At the tail add a crimp bead, wire guardian & crimp cover using the method out lined in step 1.

Thread on the tiger tail the following beads: Five 8mm round howlite bead, one bead hanger, two howlite beads, [one seed bead, two howlite beads, one bead hanger, two howlite beads, one seed bead, one howlite bead, one bead hanger, one howlite bead] x 2, one seed bead, two howlite beads, one bead hanger, two howlite beads, one seed bead, two howlite beads, one bead hanger and five howlite beads.

Finish the tiger tail with a crimp bead, wire guardian & crimp cover.

4 Cut one 17cm section of tiger tail. At the tail add a crimp bead, wire guardian & crimp cover using the method out lined in step 1. Thread on the tiger tail one 12mm Czech Hibiscus bead and fourteen howlite rondelle beads – if you want to make your necklace longer add more beads here. Finish the tiger tail with a crimp bead, wire guardian & crimp cover. Repeat this step for the second necklace strap.

5 Assemble the necklace base by taking the beaded length of tiger tail and laying them out in the following order. Inner necklace tier step 1, middle necklace tier step 2 and outer necklace tier step 3. Take one 10mm jump ring and thread the wire guardian on one end of each necklace tier and the bottom of one bracelet strap from step 4. Take one more 10mm jump ring repeat for the other side.
Take one 6mm jump ring and attach the clasp to one end of the necklace. Take another 6mm jump ring and thread the other end and one 14mm ring. Take one more 6mm jump ring and thread the previous 14mm ring and one new 14mm ring. Finish the chain by taking one more 6mm jump ring and thread the previous 14mm ring and one new 14mm ring.

6 Take five head pins, five 4mm round howlite beads and five lily beads. Thread one each head pin one howlite bead & one lily bead and finish each head pin with a rounded loop.

7 Using 6mm jump rings attach the charm to the necklace base on the bead hangers. On the inner necklace tier attach the abstract enamel charms. The middle tier attach the five beaded-dangles from step 6 and on the bottom tier attach alternatively the cast metal charm and abstract enamel charms.
