Technique

1. Measure out 180cm of tiger-tail. Find the half waypoint by folding it in half. Take your wire guardian and thread it on the tiger-tail so it sits on the half waypoint Picture 1. Take one crimp bead and thread both ends of the tiger-tail through it. Place it next to the wire guardian and crimp in place. Use your flat nose pliers to cover the crimp with a crimp cover. You now have two lengths of tiger-tail to thread beads.

2. Thread on each length of tiger tail three rondelles, one 8mm round bead and one rondelle Picture 2. Now thread on the top length of tiger-tail one skull bead (top of the head/bead first) Picture 3. Take the bottom length of tiger-tail and thread it through the same skull bead in the opposite direction (bottom of the head/bead first) Picture 4. Pull both lengths of tiger-tail so the skull bead sits in the middle of the two strands of beads Picture 5 & 6.

3. Thread on each length of tiger-tail two rondelles, one 8mm round bead and one rondelle. Now thread on the top length of tiger-tail one skull bead (top of the head first). Take the bottom length of tiger-tail and thread it through the same skull bead in the opposite direction. Pull both lengths of tiger tail so the skull bead sits in the middle of the two strands of beads Picture 7 & 8.

4. On the length of tiger-tail sitting on the top thread one rondelle, one 10mm round bead, one round bead, one rondelle bead and one skull bead. On the bottom length of tiger-tail thread two rondelles, one 10mm round bead and two rondelles. Now take the bottom length of tiger-tail and thread it through the skull bead sitting on the top length of tiger-tail, threading the tiger-tail in the opposite direction. The skull bead should sit in the middle of the two lengths of tiger tail. Repeat this step.

5. Repeat steps 3 to 4 six times. You should have a total of 22 middle skulls threaded on your collar. Repeat step 3. Finish by threading on each length of tiger-tail one rondelle, one 8mm round bead & three rondelles Picture 10.

6. Take both lengths of tiger-tail and thread them both through one crimp bead, wire guardian and back through the crimp bead. Using your crimping pliers crimp the crimp bead in place. Use your flat nose pliers to cover the crimp with a crimp cover. Hide the ends of the tiger-tail under some of the beads and trim the excess Picture 11 & 12.

7. Take one head pin and thread one 8mm round bead bead. Trim 1cm from the bead and form a loop. Before closing the loop attach to end of the 4cm section of chain. Take one 6mm jump ring and attach the length of chain to one end of the necklace. Take one more 6mm jump ring and attach the clasp to the other open end. Picture 13

8. Find the skull bead sitting in the centre of the necklace (12th from either end). Take one head pin and thread it through the top of the bead through the wire Picture 14. On the other side trim the wire 1cm from the bead and form a loop Picture 15. Take one head pin and thread one 8mm round bead. Trim 1cm from the bead and form a loop. Before closing the loop thread on the newly created loop under the skull bead Picture 16. Keep attaching headpins through the skull beads and attaching dangles – attach to every bead working from the middle section to add a total of four beaded dangles to each side of the middle section (nine dangles in total)
